Financial assistance

With rare exceptions, students admitted to the PhD program are admitted with full tuition and stipend support as teaching assistants or research assistants.

On rare occasions, students with very good credentials who did not make the cut, but have convincingly demonstrated their ability to support themselves financially, may be admitted to the PhD program without financial aid. You may apply for PhD admission without financial support; however, a request for unsupported admission is not considered a substitute for good academic performance, and generally does not improve the chances of admission.

The MEng and MS programs are unsupported in the sense that they carry no stipend. Students desiring a master's degree are encouraged to apply to the MEng program. You may apply for admission with or without tuition support. A limited number of superior master's applicants do receive offers carrying full or partial tuition scholarships each year.
