Overview

Our research at UB will focus on the development, synthesis, and characterization of novel photofunctional materials. Specifically, we will be looking at successfully immobilizing photoactive organometallic complexes on a variety of supports, from rigid silica supports to more flexible polymeric materials. The end application of these materials will be wastewater treatment, biomaterials (anti-cancer, anti-viral, anti-bacterial agents), and in small molecule transformations (for example, pharmaceuticals).
