Tom is working in the area of molecular simulation with Jeffrey Errington. He looked at graduate programs at Carnegie-Mellon, Cornell, and the University of Pennsylvania but the offer from UB, combined with knowing and liking the faculty and the area made it sensible to stay.

Tom says he likes Buffalo, especially the wide range of affordable housing—something he started to appreciate when he was looking at other programs—and having another country next door, with Toronto only two hours away by car.
