When she looked for graduate programs, Anshu searched widely, with particular attention to the research aspect of the departments. She wanted to do computational work with biological systems. “This program looked good to me.” For the past five years she has been working on permeability properties of proteins, specifically gap junctions.
“I've loved what I'm doing here—I'm doing both experimental and computational work. I've had a very nice collaboration with the biological sciences department, here at UB. Initially I was working with data from the biologists but now I'm doing experiments myself.”
“The best thing about this department is the combination of well-known, established faculty and younger faculty doing equally interesting research. The research is very good throughout the department.”
