Yi Zhang Ph.D. Student

portrait of student Yi Zhang

Yi Zhang came to the program at UB on the recommendation of her advisor who earned his doctorate here. She's nearing completion of her doctoral work in biomedical engineering, specifically on estimating leukocyte integrin and selectin-dependent adhesion using flow chamber and cytometry. When she finishes her degree, Yi Zhang will pursue a research career.

She says that what she likes most about the department is its energetic environment. “It's a pleasure to work with brilliant and diligent colleagues around me. They're like friends who assist me and give me inspiration during my study and in my life.”

“I like Buffalo better than New York City because it's more comfortable and peaceful. But it's not too small—I have friends studying in small towns—and there is plenty to do here.”
