Getting on-the-job training

Employers often favor students who have some exposure to industrial practices. A good way to break this "you can't get it unless you have it" Catch-22 is to get some industrial experience during your undergraduate education. There are two options:

• Participate in the Engineering Career Institute and Co-op program run through the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Students typically complete a co-op experience over the summer. Have a look at this website for detailed information about the program.
• Do an internship. You work 10 hours per week at a company site, doing a semester-long project. You don't get paid, but you get 3 credits in CE 496. For more details, see the internship coordinator, Prof. Koffas, before classes start for the semester.
